Rochedale Community Garden

This is a community garden with community lots as well as allotments. Established in July 2012 this is a growing space in many respects. Set in 1.6 hectares the garden has its own natural water supply

What's it all about?

The Rochedale Community Garden caters for all age groups from children through to retirees and members come from a wide catchment. Working bees are held every sunday from 1 PM in cooler months and 2 PM in warmer months followed by social get-together over a cup of tea or something stronger. A barbecue get-together is held once a month with all members contributing. Workshops are held on a regular basis with recent ones on "How to build a wicking bed" and "How to make a worm-farm" with the latter one being held twice to cater for school children during the latest school holidays. Government grants have been applied for and received with the latest being used to build a compost toilet on-site.Apart from vegetable gardens there are flower gardens and a chook pen housing 4 chooks!
